SEC/N is the international trade association for the used equipment and related services segment of the semiconductor and electronics manufacturing industry. SEC/N was founded in 1998 in response to the needs growing out of the rapidly expanding secondary market for semiconductor equipment. Today, SEC/N has become the electronics industry’s international focal point for all aspects of used equipment and asset recovery.
According to Gary Robertson, newly elected president, “The secondary equipment market is complex and dynamic and needs competition as well as collaboration among various parties for transactions to flow. I have seen that device manufacturers can gain a competitive edge for their company, sometimes spelling the difference between survival and extinction, when they use the secondary markets intelligently. It is the role of SEC/N as the trade association for the secondary markets to lay the foundation for these markets to work right”.
The Mission of SEC/N is “To provide both the forum and leadership which enables companies from around the world the opportunity to buy and sell quality used equipment and services in an open, informed, and professional market.”
The organization’s diverse membership includes semiconductor and electronics products manufacturers, original equipment manufacturers, re-furbishers, brokers, and service providers from around the world. Companies desiring to become members of SEC/N do so acknowledging that they are committed to actively promote the ideals of SEC/N, as well as being recognized as the benchmarks of the used equipment industry for ethics, integrity, and good business practices.
