Rite Track Equipment Services, Inc. ("Rite Track") has resolved its dispute with Silicon Valley Group, Inc., which had filed a complaint for copyright infringement against Rite Track and five other defendants in July of 1999 (Silicon Valley Group, Inc. v. Rite Track Equipment Services, Inc et al, U.S.D.C. Case Number C-99-20637, Northern District of California). Silicon Valley Group had alleged in its complaint that Rite Track and five other third party vendors had infringed the copyrights owned by SVG in software resident on its 8X Series equipment by duplicating or modifying that software in the refurbishment and sale of equipment.
While the terms of the settlement are confidential, Rite Track is able to disclose that it has purchased a license to use and modify SVG's 8X software for use in the SVG 86 and 88 Series equipment that Rite Track remanufactures, and for use in its own product, the Rite Track 88e. In addition, Rite Track has obtained a trademark license for use of the model number "88e" in connection with its Rite Track 88e. Neither party admitted wrongdoing.
